Description
The specific objective of the project is to promote learning processes regarding 2030 Agenda topics and Child’s Rights (CRC), in order to integrate socio-emotional and digital communication skills. The direct beneficiaries are 80 teachers and 500 students from middle- and high-schools of Abruzzo, Lazio, Toscana, Campania, Sardegna and Sicilia. For their selection, criteria which guarantee equal and fair opportunities of participation will be adopted, respecting inclusion and diversity policies to involve all categories of subjects, in particular the most vulnerable ones. To guarantee the achievement of the specific objective and ensure sustainability of the project it was foreseen the involvement of the Schools as project’s partners, as well as the active participation of the educating community in the project’s activities, in particular parents and grandparents (so-called caregivers), in order to stimulate the intergenerational exchange regarding topics of global interest. By opening the schools to the community through training and laboratory activities, in collaboration with teachers and students, the project aims to make all community actors aware and responsible in the diffusion of values linked with sustainable development (SD) and global citizenship (GC). From the needs assessment carried out using quali-quantitative methods such as interviews to the schools’ Headmasters and online questionnaire administration to teachers and students, an homogeneous situation has emerged: ● low level of knowledge and awareness among youths and in general in the public opinion regarding GC, 2030 Agenda and SD; ● margins for improvement in teachers’ and school’s staff preparation and continuous training, to guarantee a participative and transversal teaching of GC; ● need to create evaluation tools for the competences linked with global citizenship, not only limited to a learning approach based on mere notions but including the assessment of behaviors and expressed values ● the importance of strengthening the educational role of the family and the concept of “educational co-responsibility” In this direction, the project’s logic includes 2 categories of activities, linked with 2 different results, highly interconnected and functional one to the achievement of the other: 1. Teachers develop competences and specific tools related to 2030 Agenda and Childs’ Rights (CRC), designing interdisciplinary and participative educational paths: teachers will join training courses on GC and SD, followed by the development of assessment tools to evaluate competencies, knowledge, values and positive behaviors of the students regarding these topics. The aim is to equip teachers and schools’ headmasters with a new set of competences and tools useful to successfully include values and principles of GC and SD as transversal educational themes, within a global school framework regarding ethics, management, curricula, teachers’ training and learning environment. 2. Using training and multimedia laboratories (web-radio, short-films, social media and web strategies), students (10-16 years old) will develop a deep knowledge about 2030 Agenda contents and its connections with Childs’ Rights (CRC), demonstrating to be able to interpret with a critical eye emerging social and global phenomena, being more aware of the impact of our behavior. The laboratories will include exchanges with students from other Countries involved in humanitarian projects, in order to promote international solidarity and an exchange of perspectives. These activities represent also the opportunity to experiment a positive and constructive use of the languages typical of the latest generation, related to new media and social networks, ensuring continuity to the process of building GC even within virtual spaces.
