Description

The Initiative aims to address complex humanitarian crises through integrated action with a specific focus on health, nutrition and food security, aimed primarily at the most at-risk segments of the population, such as children and displaced persons. The primary objective is to improve access to primary and secondary health services, strengthening the capacity of public health facilities to respond effectively and sustainably to the needs of the population, with reference to nutrition and food security issues. Health activities will focus primarily on equitable and sustained access to primary health care and capacity building of health personnel. Nutritional screening and malnutrition treatment programmes will be implemented for children aged between 6 and 59 months and for pregnant and lactating women, with a specific emphasis on prevention. Food security activities, closely linked to nutrition, will focus on agricultural support initiatives, fostering the development of skills that improve the self-sufficiency of rural communities. Adequate access to food is indeed fundamental to preventing malnutrition and ensuring the health of the most vulnerable populations. The integrated approach will strengthen the resilience of communities and improve their ability to cope with recurring crises and climate shocks. Particular attention will be paid to the gender approach in the implementation of all promoted actions, as well as to taking adequate account of the specific challenges of forcibly displaced populations. The program also integrates key cross-cutting themes, including the protection of the most vulnerable groups, gender equality, and the protection and inclusion of persons with disabilities and children. read more close
