Description

The project aims to create economic, technical and institutional ecosystems aimed at reducing the partner country's degree of foreign dependence on food security (so-called “food sovereignty”). Specifically, the project encompasses the following areas of focus: 1) agricultural development (with a livestock component) 2) social and training and 3) sustainability and resilience to climate change. Through activities such as establishing a model farm, setting up effective irrigation systems to curb desertification, implementing interventions to improve post-harvest production, creating mother fields for local seed multiplication, and creating a poultry supply chain, the goal is to make the country self-sufficient through local seed production and the development of the related supply chain. The activities in the agronomic field will be complemented by institutional strengthening actions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Regional Offices, as well as interventions aimed at making infrastructure accessible to the local community and developing innovative skills in the management of advanced cropping systems, promoting socio-economic benefits in the communities residing in the intervention area, with special attention to the inclusion of the most vulnerable groups. read more close
