Description

The Project for Supporting Socio-Economic Inclusion and Well-Being Initiatives for Families and Children in Situations of Mobility in Guinea aims to assist Guinea in achieving SDGs 4, 5, 8, 10, and 16 by combating the exploitation, trafficking, and irregular migration that affect children, while promoting their rights and well-being. Specifically, the proposal aims to: i) improve the capacities and performance of the government at all levels regarding child protection, contrast to irregular migration, protection of human rights, and gender equality (output 1); ii) provide protection, assistance, and reintegration for children in mobility situations living in Guinea (output 2); iii) strengthen the coordination mechanisms among all actors involved in this issue (output 3); and iv) enable communities to make informed decisions and support their children in the best possible way to avoid irreparable harm due to irregular and forced migration (output 4). The project’s strategy will consider multiple discrimination such as gender, race, ethnicity, faith, social status, age, migrant status, marginalization, disability, and the specific needs of minors. The activities are designed to be inclusive and equitable, ensuring that all children, regardless of their situation, receive the assistance and protection they need, specifically addressing the needs of children with disabilities, girls who are victims of trafficking, and victims of gender-based violence. The actions also aim to raise awareness and educate communities to reduce discrimination and promote equal opportunities for young people, addressing the different needs of girls and boys and the cultural models that influence them. The multi-agency partnership between IOM and HCDH, based on the specific mission of the two agencies, will strengthen institutional dialogue for child protection and promote integrated development in Guinea as an alternative to the irregular migration of minors. read more close
