Description

The PROVENTUS initiative is included as part of the AICS Khartoum Office 2023 planning exercise. The project was created in response to a request from The Ministry of Production and Economic Resources (MOPER) of the State of Kassala. The aim of the project is to address the needs of five specific locations, which are Aroma, Telkook, Hamashkureib, Rural Kassala, and North Delta. The PROVENTUS initiative aims to increase the productivity of the agricultural sector (agriculture and livestock) by following the principles of agroecology. This will reduce poverty, strengthen resilience, and enhance the food security of the most vulnerable communities in the state of Kassala. The state of Kassala, like the other states in Eastern Sudan, is currently affected by the extraordinary influx of populations displaced from the areas involved in the ongoing armed clashes since 15 April. This situation has led to an increase in food needs in the eastern states of the country, especially in Kassala. The PROVENTUS initiative includes five components: access to water, agriculture, livestock, inclusion of vulnerable groups, witand research. The availability of water is essential for the sustainability of interventions that support the agricultural and livestock sectors read more close
