Description

The Government of Pakistan has expressed a keen interest in continuing the expansion and development of the high-value olive oil chain as a means to achieve economic diversification, rural development and better nutrition, as aiming to the importation of oils by producing high-quality domestic edible oils in compliance with nutritional and organoleptic standards. The strategy of the initiative, pursued by CIHEAM Bari in collaboration with institutional partners, revolves around a comprehensive and inclusive approach, enhancing the capacity of Pakistani public and private stakeholders in fostering the entire olive oil supply chain to achieve sustainable agricultural production and an impact on economic diversification, reduced dependence on olive oil imports and promotion of a healthy, sustainable national product as well as promoting climate resilience capacity. The General Objective of the Project is to contribute to inclusive growth for the improvement of nutritional security and resilience to the effects of Climate Change through olive production and processing industries.
