Description

Component B of the initiative, managed by WHO, integrates the renovation and equipment of the Bogodogo hospital provided for by Component A, managed by UNOPS, throug the development of the technical and administrative management capacities of the facility, the implementation of a networked hospital information system and an electronic medical record. It is also planned to develop a biomedical maintenance system designed in the form of a national strategy and therefore for the benefit of all hospitals in Burkina. Both components focus on the hospital's essential services - emergency, maternity and paediatrics - carried out over 20 years ago with funding from the Italian cooperation, and on support services such as administration, maintenance, pharmacy and blood bank. Component B also provides support for the elimination of viral hepatitis, in particular B and C - of which Burkina Faso is a highly endemic country - through the development of a national strategy, staff training and the large-scale introduction of screening tests and antiviral drugs. The beneficiaries of the intervention will be the approximately 100,000 patients referred to the Bogodogo hospital every year – mostly women and children – over 7,000 patients suffering from hepatitis and over 8,000 health workers. read more close
