Description
The initiative, implemented by UNESCO over a duration of 36 months, aims to improve the quality and relevance of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in the States of Kassala and Red Sea, creating new employment opportunities for Sudanese youth, especially girls and disadvantaged groups such as internally displaced persons and people with disabilities, in the agricultural, phytosanitary, livestock breeding, photovoltaic electrical and water resources sector environmental, sector and related fields, providing them with relevant skills for better employment and sustenance. The actions will focus on the rehabilitation and enhancement of two Model Vocational Training Centers (MVTC) - the Kassala Technological Transfer and Extension Center and the Port Sudan Technical School in the Red Sea state - given the identified skills gaps and opportunities, UNESCO's strong synergies with both local authorities, and the feasibility of implementation in the current Sudanese context. Individual interventions will be carried out through infrastructure support, capacity development, and the provision of equipment and tools to both centers. Additionally, the project will introduce nine vocational training courses to bridge the skills gap among youth, with a particular focus on women and people with disabilities, to break the cycle of poverty and make the job market more inclusive.
