Description

The initiative intends to contribute to the improvement of the food security in Red Sea State - most exposed to o be facing acute food insecurity - through an integrated and sustainable rural development production and pastoral farming in order to consolidate the means of subsistence and offer greater resilience capacity. The initiative, part of the programming of the AICS office in Khartoum 2021-2022, intends to respond to the structural causes of food insecurity in the Red Sea State - which has the highest malnutrition rates in Sudan - by improving the production and processing capacity of the rural sector through agro-ecological techniques and inclusive and sustainable practices, facilitating the participation of the most vulnerable groups (farmers, women and youth) and reducing the negative consequences of climate change. Consistent with this premise, the following objectives (general and specific), expected results and activities are proposed: General objective (impact) Contribute to the improvement of food security of the most vulnerable populations of the Red Sea State through the sustainable development of agricultural production (tomatoes, millet, sorghum, watermelon, okra) and pastoral farming. Specific objectives (outcome) - Improve the access of Red Sea State populations to inclusive and sustainable livelihoods by improving access to water, promoting agro-ecological production and processing techniques compatible with an effective response to climate change. - Improve participation and social inclusion in agricultural production and processing processes and increase participation in economic opportunities through social innovation processes. read more close
