Description

The Specific Objective of the project "GIFT - Young people_Commitment_Future_Environment. Pathways to empowerment, mobilization and youth leadership for sustainable development based on rights and the 2030 Agenda" is "To increase awareness of its own role and the ability to mobilize and participate among young people aged 14 to 25 in contributing to the achievement of the SDGs in the cities of Rome, Crotone, Ancona and Padua, fostering empowerment, the potential for mobilization and the ability to participate in the public. debate, triggering a process of change and engagement with respect to the SDGs, sustainable over time". This is in line with Sector a) Strengthen knowledge of the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda and its implementation, and on raising awareness on international solidarity issues, as well as with Target 4.7, 4.4, 4.5, 12.8, 10.2 and 13.3 identified as the reference for the proposal. Direct beneficiaries of the project will be 52.500 young people (secondary school and university students, users of the educational videogame on the SDGs), 150 teachers, and 40 institutions and associations. Indeed, the project will be realized in schools and universities, involving institutions, associations and other educational agencies in the cities of Rome, Crotone, Ancona and Padua. During the need assessment phase - carried out through the analysis of official sources and on the basis of a direct consultation realized by Save the Children with about 400 boys and girls active in the Youth Movement for Save the children on the themes of participation and sustainability - two main needs have been identified: 1. To increase young people's knowledge of the SDGs, sustainable development, citizenship skills, creating the basis for awareness and active participation and to influence individual and collective behaviours; and to involve teachers as crucial subjects; 2. Strengthen the ability of young people to participate and mobilize in their own territory with regard to the promotion of sustainable development, global citizenship, climate change mitigation and to participate in the public debate on these issues. The project "GIFT" aims to achieve two results in line with the identified needs and with the specific objective defined: 1) EMPOWERMENT - Increased knowledge on SDGs among secondary school children and young university students in the cities of Rome, Crotone, Ancona and Padua; 2) MOBILIZATION - Increased the ability of the young people of Rome, Crotone, Ancona and Padua to mobilize their peers and citizens and to contribute to the public debate on issues related to the SDGs. To achieve the results, the following activities will be carried out: - Awareness programs on Agenda 2030 and SDGs in upper secondary schools in collaboration with universities - Training courses on communication, Agenda2030 and creation of a territorial network for sustainable development - Preparation of an exhibition on SDGs and realization of "Open Schools for SDGs" events - Gamification of the contents of the exhibition on the SDGs and of the outcomes of the workshops - Animation of the “Youth Hub - Workshop 2030” space open to all youth organizations - Initiatives of mobilization and participation in the public debate The Applicant, Save the Children Italia Onlus, has designed the intervention according to a co-planning approach together with the other subjects of the partnership, which is made up of national strategic subjects in advocacy and education in the ECG to partners chosen for their expertise and able to bring innovative points of view and for their capacity to involve children in the public debate and to make them aware of their role as youth change makers.
