Description

BUILDING WITH MUSIC, comes from the experiences that AGAPE and Milano Musica have achieved over the years in the culture and youth employment sector and from the institutional trust that they have managed to achieve at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Secretaria da Juventude and Emprego. Although the cultural sector is considered a priority by the Mozambican government, its value and potential in economic and development terms are not fully understood, which translates into minimum annual budgets, less than 1%, constant cuts in endowment funds for the financing of cultural and creative enterprises and the absence of specific strategies of the government with respect to the sector, if we obviously exclude the creation, exclusively on paper, of the Instituto Nacional das Indústrias Culturais e Criativas. About 33.4% of the Mozambican population is young, and constitutes the most precious human capital in the country, presenting itself as the guarantor of the construction of the Mozambican nation and driving force in the promotion of sustainable development. However, around 56.8% of these young people are unemployed or not formally employed. In the cultural sector the situation worsens, there are only about 4200 young employees, of which only 0.4 are female. According to the latest statistics in the possession of MICULTUR, there are only 890 formally recognized cultural enterprises in the city of Maputo, 170 in the province of Inhambane, 36 in Zambezia and 72 in Nampula. The intervention aims to increase employment and self-employment opportunities in the cultural and creative industries sector and, specifically, in the music sector, for young people aged 15 to 34 in the Provinces of Maputo Cidade, Inhambane, Zambezia. and Nampula. BUILDING WITH MUSIC identifies three clusters in which to act: The institutionality relating to cultural and creative industries in Mozambique has been strengthened, with particular attention to the music and performing arts sectors. The strengthening of the institutions will be achieved by working on three aspects, the skills of human resources, the planning and organization of the system, in order to finally be able to promote a process of concrete decentralization, synonymous with good governance and democracy, and finally on the financial aspects. Training will be carried out in cultural management and enhancement, management and use of cultural heritage between direct and indirect management. In order to be able to exit the national market, Mozambican musical products must be of high quality, so it is necessary to strengthen professional technical training by implementing new curricula in construction and maintenance of musical instruments and pro-audio engineer and to improve the current training existing in Mozambique in culture management, so that the country could have professionals capable of promoting cultural events of international scope and to promote Mozambican cultural products nationally and internationally. read more close
