Description

The project aims to promote an inclusive economic growth in Jordan by enhancing the employability of women, youth, and persons with disabilities in the Governorates of Ajloun, Amman, and Aqaba. This objective is achieved through the strengthening of both professional and soft skills of the target groups, addressing the lack of certified and employable professional skills, one of the key factors contributing to the exclusion of women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PwDs) from the labor market. Simultaneously, it seeks to bolster the private sector's capacity to create new employment opportunities, particularly for these vulnerable groups, by promoting the removal of physical and cultural barriers that underpin their exclusion and by providing services for the incubation and scale-up of targeted economic activities. In particular, the project plans for 180 women, 50% of whom have disabilities, to participate in a certified vocational training program in the food service industry, certified by the Jordanian Ministry of Labor. Additionally, an individual and group mentoring system is established to provide personalized support to beneficiaries in their journey towards professional integration. Furthermore, half of the beneficiaries will have the opportunity to engage in an apprenticeship program with local companies. Targeted businesses will be strengthened through tailored interventions, including training, services, and consultancy for business scale-up and the adoption of Responsible Business Conduct, particularly concerning the creation of more accessible and inclusive work environments. This will be complemented by the provision of machinery or workplace rehabilitations to make them more accessible and inclusive. Moreover, entrepreneurship among PwDs will be promoted through incubation services and the exchange of experiences to replicate the mechanism of hiring persons with disabilities through an outsourcing mechanism, as adopted in Italy (art. 14 del d. lgs. 276/2003). Lastly, specific awareness-raising actions on disabilities and inclusion in the workplace are planned. Through informative sessions and a broader awareness campaign, the project aims to promote a culture of inclusion for the labor inclusion of PwDs. The project is implemented by Vento di Terra through a composite partnership that includes two local organizations: Rafeeq, an organization of persons with disabilities, and PTI, an organization that is specialized in vocational training and job placement, particularly for vulnerable women. It also involves the Bruto and Poerio Carpigiani Foundation, a worldwide leader in the artisanal gelato sector, and the Namastè Social Cooperative, specialized in the labor inclusion of persons with intellectual disabilities. Additionally, the Jordanian government entity responsible for the rights of persons with disabilities, the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, will ensure continuous scientific supervision of the intervention. This composite partnership Allegato 2_Modello Documento Unico di Progetto_DUP_Bando Promossi 2023 10 constitutes a strength to ensure the success and impact of the project, as it combines diverse skills, resources, and knowledge, thus fostering a fruitful exchange for the replicability of good practices. The project is fully aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). Through the enhancement of professional skills, labor market insertion, and the promotion of inclusive job opportunities, the project directly contributes to the achievement of these global objectives, thereby fostering sustainable development and social inclusion in Jordan. read more close
