Description
Building on FGPII's experiences in Jordan on rural economic development and support of the MoE's special schools for the deaf, this proposal aims to ensure continuity, in particular, in the collaboration with the MoE, by extending institutional support to the Vocational Education, VE, level. The strategy has two interconnected components. The first concerns the strengthening of the educational offer of VE public schools, while the second foresee the implementation of business and self-employment services in the educational, tourism, agricultural and handicraft sectors. The first component is based on the development of a training course for VE school teachers, to be integrated into the long-life learning program of public-school teachers. This includes strengthening the teachers' skills in terms of teaching methodologies and techniques specific to the VE, agriculture and tourism, which offer the greatest job opportunities. Part of the course is an exchange of best practices for a delegation of VE teachers to learn about the virtuous models in agriculture and tourism implemented in Italy, in collaboration with the Italian partner UNIBO. The project provides the qualification of no. 1 model VE center for tourism and no. 1 model VE center for agriculture, through the renewal of equipment for practices. For students, is foreseen operating at the institutional school level through the implementation of campaigns and awareness-raising actions to encourage young secondary school students to attend VE courses, that are innovative in terms of content, educational curriculum, facilities, equipment and job opportunities through the project, as well as orientation for job placement provided during the school activities. The second component provides improving entrepreneurial and self-employment skills to be initiated in the area of education, agriculture, tourism and manufacturing. For final year VE students, start-up funds are planned to support young people in starting their own businesses, with the follow-up of local and international technical experts. In the educational field, it is planned to support community nurseries in rural areas, so that they can be an effective source of employment and income generation for women in the community. Support the start-up of new micro-business and the consolidation of the entrepreneurial capacities of women and youth associations already involved in previous FGPII and COOPI projects. These include women engaged in the production of certified aloe vera gel for processing into products for local trade. Finally, it will facilitate the creation and/or consolidation of HBBs in rural communities, as well as awareness programs on decent work and sustainable employment. Therefore, is provided to support micro-enterprises to increase their income-generating capacity by improving marketing and branding skills and organizing direct sales events (bazaars, small showrooms, cafés).
