Description

The project IN.FOR.MO Training and data to inform sustainable health policies and evaluate quality health services will aim to contribute to SDG 3 to ensure well-being for all and everyone in Mozambique. In particular, it will contribute to the achievement of Target 3.3 to end epidemics including AIDS and STDs and Target 3.4 to reduce premature mortality due to noncommunicable diseases, particularly diabetes and hypertension. The stakeholders in the implementation will be: • the University of Tor Vergata, Department of Biomedicine and Prevention provides its technical and scientific expertise; • the Faculty of Medicine of Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo will play a role in planning, data collection, analysis and dissemination of results; • two civil society organizations (one Italian and DREAM Associaçao, a partner already selected in the field). Strengthening the Mozambican health system's response to communicable and noncommunicable diseases will be achieved through increased information and knowledge on HIV and drug resistance, HPV, hypertension, and diabetes. In fact, the implementation of quality health services will be accompanied by ongoing scientific research and training work that will provide useful information and evidence to Mozambique's health policies, can improve health services and create effective and replicable service models, and update epidemiological data on HIV, diabetes and hypertension. IN.FOR.MO. is a three-year project that will be providing research in several areas and is expected to: 1. Increase awareness among the population in 5 Mozambican districts, policy makers, and the scientific community about risk factors related to HIV and HPV infection and the occurrence of diseases such as diabetes and hypertension in the Mozambican context. About 35,000 people will be reached. 2. Increase knowledge and information available on the failure/success of current protocols for people with HIV and advanced HIV accessing 7 health centers involved in the project (about 30,000 people). 3. Evaluate the health service offered in 7 health centers where people with diabetes and hypertension are taken care of and provide data to policy makers in order to create a replicable and effective model nationwide. read more close
