Description

"Rinascita Mali" project aims to promote food and nutrition security of young people and women through agroecology, also improving the environment-nutrition-health-work nexus. To achieve this goal, Rinascita Mali will guarantee beneficiaries diversified and ecologically sustainable crops and agri-food production (R1 - Purpose code 31161 Food crop production), through support to communities and families to improve -food production and processing; promote the socio-economic inclusion of women and young people (R2 - Purpose code 31120 Agricultural development) through supporting the development of micro-enterprises, the creation of a market dedicated only to agro-ecological products, the empowerment of women and girls, environmental and agroecological education in schools; and prevent malnutrition through the adoption of proper feeding and nutrition practices directed at pregnant and lactating women and children under 5 years of age (R3 - Purpose code 12240 Basic Nutrition) through CAP and community diagnostic surveys on malnutrition, training and accompaniment of health personnel, community health actors and local producers, awareness-raising and community animation for the introduction of good food practices, and permanent campaigns and use of ICT. Thus, Rinascita Mali contributes to the achievement of SDG 2 No Hunger (targets 2.1, 2.2. and 2.4), SDG 8 Decent work and economic growth (targets 8.2, 8.3), and SDG 15 Life on land (target 15.3) by supporting beneficiaries, young people, women, children and stakeholders in the agriculture and health sector. This multidimensional approach will contribute to reducing hunger by promoting access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food (OECD Policy Objective/DAC Nutrition), ensuring sustainable food production systems and resilient agricultural practices that increase productivity and production while conserving natural resources (OECD Policy Objective/DAC Aid to environment), combat desertification and support mitigation and adaptation to climate change (Rio Markers Desertification, Climate change – mitigation and adaptation). In addition, the project mainstreams gender equality across the project and is committed to the empowerment of women and girls also with dedicated activities (OECD Policy Objective/DAC Gender Equality). To achieve these goals, Rinascita Mali has developed a broad partnership with the NGO TAMAT (with more than 30 years of experience in agro-ecological practices and development of micro-enterprises, in Mali and the Sahel) as lead partner, the NGO Progetto Mondo, and the Malian partners Caritas, Le Tonus, Haut Conseil des Maliens de l'Extérieur (HCME), Fédération Nationale pour le Développement des Jeunes Filles pour leur Autonomisation (FENAJFA), and the Association Subaahi Gumo (ASG), to which is added the support of stakeholders such as local authorities, local CSOs, schools involved in the project and the University of Perugia, Department 3 A which has already expressed its willingness to continue to accompany Tamat and the beneficiaries in the development of agroecology. read more close
