Description

The overall objective of FARE project is to contribute to the full employment of young people and women in Niger, within the framework of an endogenous, sustainable and inclusive economic growth of the private sector. The project promotes the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 4, 5 and 8. The initiative aims to increase access to decent work and self-employment opportunities for young people and women living in the urban municipalities of Maradi, Niamey and Zinder. The project intends to intercept the unmet needs of these target groups through a multi-sectoral and multi-level strategy, which is articulated around three axes of intervention: (i) promoting a vocational training system capable of guaranteeing job placement; (ii) fostering the development of a local ecosystem favourable to the socio-economic inclusion of women and young people, with a particular focus on the promotion of decent work; (iii) Enhance access to entrepreneurial support services for young people and women.. Through Outcome 1 (Young men and women in the municipalities of Zinder, Niamey and Maradi gain access to quality vocational training services responding to the needs of the local business ecosystem), the project intends to strengthen the capacity of technical and vocational training systems to build skills in line with the local employment offer, by enhancing the quality of training curricula and services. The project will activate educational counselling and vocational orientation programmes as well as work placement services, with the aim of creating the conditions for socio-economic and educational inclusion of youth, including vulnerables, people with disabilities and unschooled children. The outcome aims to close the gap between young people’s current skillset and the needs of the labor market. Through Outcome 2 (Institutions and local actors are in favour of initiatives to promote decent work and the socio-economic inclusion of women and young people) the project will raise awareness on decent work and equal opportunities among institutions, civil society and local communities, through information campaigns, participatory processes and advocacy efforts. Currently, limited awareness of these issues hinders the development of an inclusive socio-economic ecosystem that respects workers' rights. The project will also facilitate the development of concrete actions for social protection and job placement by linking young job seekers with the local entrepreneurial network. Outcome 3 (Young people and women in the municipalities of Zinder, Niamey and Maradi are provided with the means and skills to start up or strengthen sustainable enterprises that are integrated into the local socio-economic fabric) targets improved access to selfemployment for young people and women. This will be achieved by supporting the creation and development of businesses, along with providing entrepreneurship support services. The focus will be on economic and social sustainability and innovation, while paying particular attention to the specific needs of women entrepreneurs. The FARE initiative aligns with the country's key political, economic, and sectoral strategies. These strategies aim to achieve equitable and sustainable growth by promoting the socio-economic integration of vulnerable segments of populations, particularly young people and women. The 36-month action will be implemented by CISV in collaboration with the Italian partners Fondazione ACRA, PIN and Gnucoop and the local partner Nigerielles. Each organisation will contribute with its expertise according to a clear division of roles and thematic functions, towards the achievement of the project's goals and objectives read more close
