Description

The initiative is designed on an integrated demand-supply approach, that combines economic and social development, promoting the sustainable and inclusive growth of Ghana, through the enhancement of human capital and the innovation of local businesses, by creating new job opportunities in Greater Accra, Ashanti, Northern, Bono and Western Region. The main objective is to promote the creation of decent jobs, by increasing job offers through supporting the growth of Ghanaian small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) and improving the skills of young people through 8 Vocational Training Centers, to meet the demands of the labour market. The project, in line with SDGs 8, 4, 9 and 10, also through quality education and training, aims at increasing the competitiveness of local businesses and promoting a favorable environment for sustainable and inclusive employment. The initiative uses a variety of strategies to achieve its objectives: • Creation of a Business-Labor Observatory for continuous monitoring and data collection to provide a solid foundation for policies and actions;• Support for SMEs: Through the creation of an "Italian Innovation Center" at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA); • Vocational Training Programs: Improvement of the inclusive educational offer of the Vocational Training Centers; • Promotion of Internationalization of Ghanaian SMEs; • Social Inclusion of people with disabilities/special educational needs and young women in training and employment pathways. The project has a duration of 36 months, during which the following main results are expected to be achieved: • Creation of at least 1,620 direct jobs (more than 35% for women and 1% for people with disabilities and/or special needs). • Improvement of the educational offer for 4,615 young Ghanaians. • Increase in the competitiveness and workforce absorption capacity of 570 local SMEs. read more close
