Description
The initiative aims to strengthen the social integration of vulnerable Palestinian refugees in Lebanon by improving inclusive educational services and support for people with disabilities. Specifically, the program has the dual objective of a) strengthening inclusive education by providing support to children with special educational needs and/or disabilities in UNRWA schools and improving access to psycho-social and 2 recreational activities; b) support people with disabilities through the provision of mobility and assistance devices, multi-purpose cash assistance, and social support. The project is aligned with UNRWA’s Strategic Plan 2023-2028, the Lebanon Response Plan 2024 and the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 4 on quality education. The proposed activities aim to guarantee to over 12 thousand Palestinian refugee children, including those with disabilities, access to quality, inclusive and equitable education, and to promote their social inclusion and participation in community life. Over 400 refugees with disabilities will also benefit from support services such as the provision of assistive and mobility devices and support from specialized educators.
