Description
This technical assistance initiative tasks UNDP to develop, under the supervision of the Italian development cooperation systems, a major project to support the development of digital ecosystems in three West African countries: Senegal, Ghana, and Cote d'Ivoire. The resulting project will focus on improving access to digital connectivity, especially in underserved areas, bridging the urban-rural and gender digital divide, supporting the development of resilient public digital infrastructure -for instance in the fields of digital identity/civil registration and fiscal systems - and creating job opportunities in various sectors, including agriculture. It will also improve access to digital public services in education and health, boost private sector engagement and economic growth, and promote transparency and efficiency in public services. It will also foster digital inclusion, notably through the development of digital skills for women and youth. The project will align with the goals of the African Union's Agenda 2063 and aims to be scalable and co-financed by international donors like the World Bank and the African Development Bank.
