Description
The initiative, from 2024 programming, will contribute to the implementation of the ICRC's humanitarian response in Haiti for the same year. Specifically, the objectives pursued are the following: 1) People living in areas affected by armed violence are better protected in accordance with humanitarian principles and applicable international norms, and their rights are respected. They have access to essential services. Members of families dispersed by violence, migration or other circumstances are able to ascertain the whereabouts of missing relatives or to stay in touch with one another; 2) Wounded and sick people have access to suitable emergency care; 3) National authorities and all weapon bearers understand and respect humanitarian principles and applicable frameworks protecting people during situations of violence, and incorporate these in their decision-making. Members of civil society help foster aware-ness of humanitarian issues among these actors and the general public, thus securing greater respect for human dignity. All actors understand the ICRC’s mandate and support the Movement; 4) The Haiti Red Cross Society is able to carry out its core activities effectively. The activities of all Movement components are coordinated; 5) The ICRC responds to urgent emerging needs in the afore mentioned segments with additional analysis based on the multidimensional humanitarian impact of the armed violence on the affected population, which exacerbate pre-existing needs.
