Description

The proposed initiative represents a co-financing for the Delegated Cooperation program of the European Union "Transición ecológica hacia municipalis sustainibles en Cuba". The Italian contribution is aimed to cover the contracting costs of the international staff responsible for the management and technical and administrative monitoring of the entire program. The Delegated Cooperation program, called the European Action, will be carried out under direct management by the AICS headquarters in Havana (leader) in collaboration with the UNDP (United Nations Development Program) and the local counterparts INIE (National Institute of Economic Research), CEDEL (Centre for Local and Community Development), belonging respectively to the Ministry of Economy and Environment of Cuba. The European action aims to improve food security, increase energy self- sufficiency through the use of renewable sources and strengthen capacities for the design and implementation of sustainable development strategies at the local level in 8 municipalities of Cuba (Guanabacoa, Martí, Remedios, Manicaragua, Yaguajay, Cabaiguán, Trinidad and the Isla de la Juventud). The European Action will promote the circular economy, agroecology and clean energy. It will support innovation, which, in turn, will result in a greater capacity to promote measures to adapt to climate change, mitigate its effects and improve the conservation of biodiversity. read more close
