Description

The initiative is proposed by WFP in collaboration with the Iraqi Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Agriculture. It aims to contribute to strengthening resilience in four Governorates of central and southern Iraq (Nineveh, Salah Al Din, Thi Qar and Basra) through three components: the creation of participatory governance mechanism for local communities with respect to decision-making on resilience, on the institutional capacity to support actions in the agricultural sector that are sustainable and adapted to the effects of climate change and finally on the promotion of concrete green economy actions in the rural areas. The participants in the project activities (3580 people) will be 95% women and the objective is to involve at least 30% of beneficiaries among people with disabilities, for a total of direct beneficiaries of 21,480 (participants + families). The strategy is in line with the principles of Agroecology and contributes to the objectives set by the National Policies for Development and Food Security. read more close
