Description

The initiative will capitalize on the cultural and archeological heritage of Axum and Ethiopia, contributing to the development of the tourism sector and related services. Infrastructure related to the archaeological site of Axum, such as the museum and sanitation facilities, will be rehabilitated to improve its level of accessibility, along with the drafting of an integrated plan necessary for the sustainable management of its heritage in synergy with environmental aspects and the resulting socioeconomic opportunities. Specific measures to counter hydrogeological risk will be prepared, based on the recommendations of the feasibility study. Experts in the field of cultural heritage will also be trained at the institutional level and awareness raised in the local community on best practices and knowhow on cultural heritage preservation.
