Description

The Initiative will support UNRWA in the provision of services to Palestinian refugees in Syria, estimated at approximately 438,000 people. To maintain and improve access to primary education for approximately 49,500 school-age children, the Initiative will contribute to the payment of salaries for teachers, school attendants and social workers employed in UNRWA schools. To support access to livelihoods opportunities for at least 734 young men and women, the Initiative will support the implementation of 40 vocational trainings implemented at UNRWA training centers in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Latakia, Dera' and Hama. The Initiative will also promote the protection of particularly vulnerable refugees through legal assistance, actions aimed at promoting the social inclusion of women and people with disabilities, and psychosocial support activities for children, youth and adults. The initiative will be implemented by UNRWA, the UN agency with the mandate to provide education, health, social protection and humanitarian assistance services to Palestinian refugees in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. The Initiative is an integral part of the UNRWA 2023 Syria, Lebanon and Jordan Emergency Appeal and contributes to achieving the strategic objectives of the Syria Humanitarian Response Plan. read more close
