Description

The initiative aims to contribute to the local food system sustainability in Guanabacoa municipality by the improvement of the dairy value chain management. This is based on the dissemination of agroecological practices, efficient natural resource management, and promotion of local business networks. The intervention helps to strengthen the governance of the agri-food sector supporting local authorities to defining strategies and policies for local development that encourage the participation of supply chain actors by public private partnerships. The goal is to contribute to socio-economic development and sustainable food supply at the local level in response to food insecurity and the economic crisis of the country. The main short to medium-term change the initiative aims to achieve is to strengthen the development of the dairy value chain as a contribution to the diversified management of the Local Food System. Through the adoption of a supply chain approach, the intention is to increase the supply and diversify dairy products from buffalo milk. read more close
