Description
The project aims to enhance the protection of the most vulnerable population in Iraq by facilitating their access to civil documentation and legal assistance in the Central-Southern governorates, including Al-Anbar, Baghdad, Diyala, and Salah al-Din. The objective of this initiative is to ensure a higher level of protection for the most vulnerable individuals, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and those who are stateless or at risk of statelessness, by creating conditions that enable them to access public services and actively participate in the public affairs of their country. To achieve this objective, the initiative includes the following components: i) awareness-raising activities to promote access to civil documentation for the most vulnerable population; ii) legal assistance for individuals facing complex cases (e.g., those lacking proof of identity or with perceived affiliations with extremist groups); iii) capacity building for national authorities to enhance their ability to facilitate their citizens' access to civil documentation effectively and in a timely manner.
