Description

The project aims to contribute to the strategic priorities of development and structural transformation of the Malian economy to create more decent jobs and incomes for young people and women, through interventions in two agricultural subsectors characterized by potential added value, namely the mango sector and the modern horticulture sector. The project will adopt the Market Systems Development (MSD) approach and will focus on strengthening technological innovation for production (horticultural products with high economic value), preservation and processing (mango) agriculture, as well as market access and improvement of technical and entrepreneurial skills of Malian youth and women in the regions of Sikasso, Koulikoro and the administrative district of Bamako. Given the importance of private sector engagement in local development initiatives and the aspects related to modern and innovative technologies and production process governance, the project will be open to the Italian companies involvement engaged to the Agenda 2030 SDGs achievement by the transfer of modern technologies and the creation of additional markets for the final project beneficiaries. In addition, the ILO will work closely with civil society organizations (CSOs) funded by Italian bilateral cooperation, which operate in complementary areas of intervention in Mali, particularly in agricultural production and the strengthening of cooperatives. The project proposal linked to this initiative is focused on aspects of agricultural production through the strengthening of cooperatives and small farmers of family-run production units. read more close
