Description

The country, also due to the war in Ukraine, faced great challenges in terms of gas and electricity supply. Households are particularly affected by rising prices. This initiative is part of an already existing intervention plan, namely the implementation and strengthening of an Energy Vulnerability Fund managed and coordinated by UNDP, as an immediate support tool for the Government of the Republic of Moldova to mitigate the socio-economic implications of the ongoing energy crisis, especially on the most vulnerable population. The Fund focuses on bill compensation for central heating, natural gas and electricity supply, and a series of incentive measures aimed at increasing the level of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in the country. In addition to direct support to households, the initiative will focus on strengthening institutions and generating and interpreting data both quantitative and qualitative in order to engender effective recommendations and complementary interventions. Finally, short- and medium-term energy efficiency measures will be promoted and supported. read more close
