Description

The initiative intends to contribute to the safeguarding of Libya's cultural heritage, while supporting and strengthening the DoA in implementing urgent consolidation actions in outstanding Libyan archaeological sites and in carrying out restorations of documentary heritage preserved in the historical archive of the Red Castle through on-the-job trainings. 4 In the framework of this initiative, the foreseen activities will be carried out according to three main strategic axes that have been jointly defined with the DoA to ensure their ownership of the implemented actions and to enhance sustainability. The first axe focused on governance and capacity development activities targeting the technical staff of the DoA, whereas the second axe is dedicated to urgent structural consolidation intervention to protect the archaeological sites of Leptis Magna and Cyrene and emergency restoration actions for the benefit of the documentary heritage preserved in the Historical Archive of the Red Castle in Tripoli. The third axe will focus on sustainability and the sharing of best practices with the purpose of improving the technical know-how of the local partners while setting the basis for future intervention in the domain of cultural heritage protection and safeguarding. read more close
