Description

This action intends to strengthen the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP), the network of cities developed by the City of Milan as the main heritage of Expo 2015. The objective of the action is supporting the development of urban food policies among the 280 signatory cities as well as further strengthening the presence of the Pact in partner countries of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) by developing urban food policies that can boost sustainable food systems that are inclusive, resilient, safe and diverse, providing healthy and affordable food to all people, minimising waste and conserving biodiversity while adapting to and mitigating impacts of climate change. The Pact provides 37 recommended actions along (with 44 indicators) clustered in 6 categories: Governance, Sustainable Diets & Nutrition, Social & Economic Equity, Food Production, Food Supply & Distribution, Food Waste. The initiative aims at strengthening the MUFPP, both in its internal capacity, providing human resources to its Secretariat, thus contributing to animating the network, and in its institutional relations, through the engagement of development cooperation actors and key drivers of the “Italian system”. Furthermore, the action seeks to reinforce the role of the MUFPP in cities relevant both for AICS and for the network as well as disseminating food policies in the Italian and international debate on development cooperation. read more close
