Description

The initiative consists of two distinct but interrelated project proposals presented respectively by UNIDO and UNIDO ITPO Italy, with the shared general objective of contributing to the improvement of food security in Sudan through the strengthening of strategic supply chains in the agri-food sector and the improvement of the economic opportunities deriving from them. As far as UNIDO is concerned, the intervention will take place in the State of Kassala and will focus on the development of the value chains of local productions with higher economic value, improving production and processing practices through innovation in order to develop the sector and increase opportunities of employment. As far as UNIDO ITPO Italy is concerned, the intervention will focus on ensuring support for the development of the Sudanese private sector and on strengthening the local agri-food sector in terms of investment opportunities, technologies, knowledge and innovation. The intervention strategy will integrate the two Proposals in a functional and complementary manner, both project proposals will therefore be developed on the basis of an analysis of the production chains through a participatory approach, oriented towards ecological sustainability, social inclusion and the involvement of women and young people for improve employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
