Description

This AICS-OHCHR initiative aims to accompany the States in achieving SDGs 4, 5 and 16 by supporting the establishment of effective national child protection systems in line with the recommendations of regional and international mechanisms for the promotion and protection of children's rights. In particular, the intervention aims to capitalise on the achievements of PAPEV I and finalise the processes of harmonising national legal frameworks with international and regional legal instruments on child protection in order to ensure the promotion of de jure and de facto rights of children in Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mali and Senegal, as envisaged by the International Conventions for the Protection of Children, the 2030 Agenda and the Agenda for Africa 2063. The project's integrated strategy is based on the development of three main components: (i) the improvement of national and regional governance of child protection systems; (ii) the promotion of transnational cooperation for the promotion of children's de jure and de facto rights; and (iii) the provision of quality prevention and protection services for children and girls, including persons with disabilities, who are victims of abuse, trafficking and exploitation. The capitalisation of results and the commitment of beneficiary Governments demonstrated through the Banjul Declaration of 26/05/2022 on priorities to be implemented by States for child protection in West Africa will ensure effective sustainability at the endof this second phase. The coherence of the project with national andregional strategies and actions is a crucial factor in fostering thecontinuity of project actions. read more close
