Description

The initiative aims to provide technical and methodological support to the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, and to its General Directorate for organic Agriculture, for the creation of biodistricts by carrying out a pre-feasibility analysis aimed at the creation of five areas specialized in organic production and related services (biodistrictts) and by defining the mechanisms for their activation/creation. The initiative aims at the conservation of natural resources and the enhancement of socio-cultural specificities in each pilot nucleus. All the activities planned aimed at the sustainable management of local resources, strengthening the production chains and services in the organic sector, and developing employment prospects for the most vulnerable groups, especially for young people and women. Environmental sustainability will be considered at different levels: biodiversity, co-management of resources, conservation of indigenous/traditional breeds and varieties, establishment of a circular economy for the disposal of biological waste, ecological tourism, new nutritional products, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals. read more close
