Description

the Action mainly targets women, adolescents, young women (AGYW), key vulnerable groups (KVPs), and other at-risk populations, such as children born to HIV-positive parents, contributing to "Maximizing health service equity, gender equality, and human rights" (OS). The intervention, lasting 36 months, is developed around two main axes: strengthening the healthcare offer in the Sedhiou and Ziguinchor regions by integrating sexual and reproductive health services with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV (R1). This goal is achieved by improving primary healthcare facilities, screening activities, early diagnosis, and continuous assistance, especially for women and young people at risk, enhancing the quality of care, and developing the skills of doctors and healthcare workers. The project also aims to strengthen data collection and sharing mechanisms through the Health Information System and improve knowledge of the HIV phenomenon among the population outside national healthcare systems. The second axis focuses on increasing awareness and knowledge among vulnerable communities in the Sedhiou, Ziguinchor, and Dakar regions regarding HIV prevention, treatment, and self-help (R2). This goal will be achieved through awareness campaigns, training, and community empowerment, promoting dialogue between communities, healthcare institutions, and civil society organizations. The campaigns will aim to reduce the stigma associated with HIV and encourage the use of non-discriminatory healthcare services. The informational activities will target women, adolescents, and KVPs and will include participatory pathways to engage communities as key players in change, fostering greater coordination between healthcare institutions, civil society organizations, and the communities themselves. read more close
