With the aim of contributing to the realization of the provisions of the Maputo Agreement for Peace and National Reconciliation, signed on 6 August 2019, giving continuity to Italys historic support for the pacification of the country, the intervention provides for a contribution to the Basket Fund. The Found is administered by UNOPS, for the financing of disarmament, demobilization and reintegration activities (DDR), under the coordination of the Peace Process Secretariat (PPS). This contribution will bring Italy back to the peace processworking table, where its historic role from the 1992 Peace Agreement is widely recognized. Furthermore, the intervention is in line with the Delegated Cooperation Program ongoing entrusted to AICS DELPAZ - Local Development for the Consolidation of Peace in Mozambique?, in the Provinces of Manica and Tete.
