Description

With the overall objective of contributing to reducing the burden of maternal neonatal and child mortality in Cabo Delgado Province, the project will be targeting two of the most underserved districts in the region, namely Montepuez (216,000) and Balama (180,000) and their health care network composed of the Rural Hospital of Montepuez, the network of 18 health care centers and respective communities in their catchment area. More specifically, the project aims to increase access, utilization and quality of MNCH care services among the communities living the District of Montepuez and Balama through the achievement of the following Expected results and implementation of the respective activities: - Improved Quality of MNCH services at the Hospital of Montepuez (ER1) – Main activities: technical ssistance on MNCH, recruitment of qualified health care personnel, supervision and training on the job of health care staff, support on maternal and newborn death reviews at hospital level - Increased access to MNCH services in the Districts of Balama and Montepuez (ER2): Main activities: technical assistance from SMI, training and supervision on the job, training of community health workers, support to the referral system and coordination meeting with Health Committees - Improved knowledge among communities, especially pregnant women on the importance of accessing MNCH care in the targeted districts (ER3): KAP survey at community level, sensitization and awareness raising activities, training of Health Committees and sensitization of adolescents on issues related to sexual and reproductive health; - Improved capacity of district and provincial health authorities to plan, coordinate and monitor MNCH services (ER4): TA to local authorities on data collection, analysis and planning based on evidence, support to District level maternal death reviews, and dissemination efforts read more close
