Description
The Italian Contribution is addressed to support ICRC Assistance, Protection, Prevention and Cooperation Activities in Bangladesh, including the district of Cox’s Bazar. ICRC will respond to the urgent needs of people who fled Myanmar and other violence-affected people for food, water and shelter and support the empowerment of health-care services (with a focus on people with disabilities), while also monitoring protection concerns and discussing them with the pertinent authorities. Moreover, the ICRC will pursue dialogue and other forms of contact with the authorities, security officers, key members of civil society and other actors of influence, in order to: broaden acceptance for the ICRC’s work; persuade them to facilitate access for the ICRC to those affected by the fighting; and increase respect for IHL and other applicable norms. Moreover, ICRC will work with the prison authorities to ensure that detainees are afforded treatment and living conditions that meet internationally recognized standards.
