Description
The project aims at contribute to conservation of protected areas in Albania.
The general objective of the project is, during Albania's accession to the European Natura 2000 network, to contribute to the preservation of the Protected Areas (AP) of the country as defined by the Strategic Program 2015-2020 of the Albanian Agency of Protected Areas (NAPA).
Specific objective of the project is, within the framework of the Law 81/2017 on Protected Areas, in three years, to strengthen the management and conservation measures of the Llogara National Park, the Protected Landscape of Vjosa-Narta, the Mount Tomorri National Park, the Bredhi i Hotoves-Dangelli National Park, and surrounding areas.
Consequently, the expected results of the initiative are:
R1. Involvement of communities and local authorities in AP governance;
R2. Increased infrastructure, management and technical capabilities of the 3 RAPA and local authorities.
R3. Reduced the environmental impact of local communities living in Protected Areas and in areas immediately adjacent to it.
R4. Main stakeholders and Albanian population sensitized to environmental issues.
During the first year the project will undertake to develop and approve somemanagement plans of the of Protected Areas. Several Call for Applications for local communities will be launched and approved.
