Description
The Program aims at contributing to the alleviation of the socio-economic shock of the Syrian crisis on the most vulnerable groups in Lebanon, by improving their access to income opportunities and public services. The strategy foresees the creation of rapid employment opportunities for vulnerable Lebanese and Syrian refugees for the construction or rehabilitation of public infrastructure and environmental assets in Lebanese municipalities affected by the economic and social consequences of the Syrian crisis. Through the cash-for-work methodology, the Program strengthens the capacity of Syrian refugees to provide for their own livelihoods during their stay in host communities, and provides short term income generation opportunities for vulnerable Lebanese. The support provided to vulnerable municipalities and the engagement of a high number of unskilled workers will foster the social cohesion between Syrian refugees and host communities, and will contribute to stimulating local economies. The Program will be implemented in partnership with CSOs selected through a Call for proposals.
