Description
The project “Support to the health system in Kosovo”, implemented by the local Ministry of Health, aims at addressing crucial limitations of the health service delivery system in Kosovo, which severely affects the health status of the population. In particular, this initiative intends to sustain the governmental efforts to make the cardio surgery unit of the University Clinical Center of Pristina fully operational. To this purpose, besides equipping the cardiac surgery unit and providing medical supplies and consumables, the project also envisages capacity-building activities with the technical assistance of Italian clinical institutions. The project also contributes to improving the quality of health services by focusing on the prevention and control of hospital-borne infections. The overall intervention is in line with needs and priorities of the local health sector strategy 2010-2014 and with the guiding principles set out in the Italian Cooperation Guidelines on global health 2014-2016.
