Description

The humanitarian initiative “Italy for Sudan”, promoted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, aims to provide assistance to the most vulnerable populations inthe Red Sea Region, particularly internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities. Building on the first humanitarian flight of 25 December 2025, which enabled the distribution of approximately 25 tons of food assistance to 2,000 students in four schools on the outskirts of Port Sudan, the Italian Cooperation intends to continue its support through additional shipments by sea. The upcoming consignments will benefit 52 displacement camps hosting more than 20,000 people in the city of Port Sudan and its surrounding areas. To this end, the involvement of AICS through its Addis Ababa Office—is requested to ensure support for customs clearance, warehousing, transport, distribution, and visibility activities related to the humanitarian operation. The intervention will be implemented by ensuring an inclusive and protection-sensitive approach, promoting the equitable and safe distribution of assistance and, where possible, encouraging the active involvement of women in information activities and community management, in order to strengthen their role in locallevel decision-making processes. read more close
