Description

The initiative represents a co-financing of the European Union's Delegated Cooperation Program “Desde el páramo a la Amazonia: Gestión participativa sostenible de ecosistemas forestales estratégicos reduciendo riesgos ambientales. ECO.SOS: ECOsistemas SOStenibles” with a total financial allocation of EUR 2,200,000, of which EUR 2,000,000 is contributed by the European Union and EUR 200,000 by AICS, for an execution period of 36 months starting from 2026. The Delegated Cooperation initiative will be directly managed by the AICS office in Bogotá (leader) in partnership with the Széchenyi Programme Office (Széchenyi Program Office Nonprofit LLC - SZPO) and various national governmental actors of Ecuador. The action focuses on strengthening institutional capacities and improving the local regulatory framework concerning the conservation and restoration of the biodiversity of Amazonian ecosystems and the application of integrated fire management, scientific research, and the implementation of innovative best practices, leveraging local knowledge and promoting inter-institutional and intercultural dialogue. Likewise, the initiative aims to create the conditions to support Ecuador in achieving the goals and targets established through international consensus (2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development) and in national plans and programs such as the Plan for the Creation of Opportunities 2021-2025 and the National Plan for Forest Restoration 2019-2030. read more close
