Description
The initiative aims to support inclusive and sustainable rural development in Manica Province, Mozambique, by enhancing the productive capacities and climate resilience of smallholder farmers through three integrated components. The first component promotes sustainable agricultural systems through the adoption of agroecological practices, integrated resource management, food security and improved household nutrition. The second component focuses on strengthening the Manica Agro-Food Center (CAAM) as a multifunctional facility providing technical and commercial support to local value chains. This includes establishing processing units, storage facilities, training spaces and a service hub tailored to producers’ and market needs. The third component enhances local governance through the establishment of a multi-stakeholder platform enabling dialogue among public authorities, farmers, research institutions, local organizations and the private sector. The initiative actively promotes the inclusion of women, youth and persons with disabilities and applies a participatory approach that integrates planning, capacity building, knowledge management and digital monitoring tools. The intervention aligns with national and regional priorities for agricultural development, food security and climate adaptation.
