Description

The initiative follows the former “Draft the Future! Toward a Diaspora Summit in Italy”. The general objective is to contribute to strengthening the competences, credibility and reputation of diaspora organizations in the context of development cooperation. The initiative aims to consolidate the role of CIDCI (whose formalization was a result of Draft the Future) as a key actor in the Italian system of development cooperation, and to guarantee active participation of diaspora organizations to sustainable development and humanitarian support in countries of origin. These outcomes will be achieved by supporting the consolidation of the CIDCI through the expansion of its membership base and the enhancement of its technical competences, and by continuing the provision of technical support and capacity development opportunities to increase diaspora organizations’ capacity to manage sustainable development and humanitarian support projects. The expansion of CIDCI’s base is designed to increase its representativeness and its advocacy capacity, as well as improve the connection between DOs and Italian and international institutions. The capacity of the diaspora organizations’ will be increased via the provision of a dedicated re-granting program coupled with a training component to support humanitarian and development initiatives led directly by diaspora organizations. This will ultimately lead to stronger transnational ties, enhanced development outcomes, and improved social cohesion both in Italy and the countries of origin. read more close
