Description

FAO intends to strengthen its collaboration with Italy by launching a series of activities that highlight Italy's unique role in embodying FAO's values and dedication to its mission and in raising awareness about sustainable development and the 2030 Agenda and the importance of transforming global agrifood systems and ensuring that people in the poorest countries have regular access to high-quality food. An important focus will be young people in order to sensitize them to the work of FAO and Italian Cooperation in response to current and future challenges of global food security.FAO's activity takes on even greater relevance this year due to the celebration of its 80th anniversary. More generally, its activity is essential in the current international context, which is witnessing a worsening of food insecurity in many regions, particularly in the most vulnerable countries and for the categories most at risk. FAO's activities fall within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, the definition of which the Organization contributed to jointly with the other Agencies of the United Nations Rome Hub. FAO's commitment focuses primarily on achieving SDG 2 (End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture) and SDG 1 (End poverty in all its forms everywhere).
