Description

The project will contribute to the achievement of SDG 4 target 4.4 and 8 target 8.5 by promoting the improvement of the expertise, work opportunities and private sector development towards an inclusive economic growth. Burkina Faso is experiencing rapid economic and demographic growth. In this framework, the support to the Vocational Training OCSE-DAC 11330 and private sector for the creation of employment opportunities (OCSE-DAC 16020), will widen the productive system base and the employment activating virtuous mechanisms of economic development. Starting from project design, the partnership network counted on the presence of the Ministère de l’Education Nationale et de l’Alphabétisation MENAPL, the KI- Zerbo University coordinating the 6 Universities, the Public Agency Burkina Suudu Bawdè - (BSB) and the local SCO Union Nationale Des Professionnels Del'enseignement Et La Formation Techniques Et Professionnels (Unp-Eftp), with an internal expertise on the vocational education. These partners will work with the italian team made of Centro Internazionale per la Pace fra i Popoli APS, the Fondazione Giovanni Paolo II FGPII (as a member of the strategic ATS) and the private enterprise Progepiter srl. The mismatch between the vocational training sector and the job market requirements will be addressed through an improved monitoring and analysis system together with a redevelopment of the vocational education offer. This process will be fostered through: i) the upgrading with modern equipment of 18 workshops of target vocational schools. The choice of target workshops is based on the labor-intensity of economic sectors with high potential for growth, namely solar system installation and management, car and air conditioning system maintenance; ii) the training and update of 300 professors of the target vocation schools in the above-mentioned sectors in addition to the agro-ecology. In fact, agriculture is the most important sector in the country in terms of employment. iii) the set-up of 6 business incubators within the 6 target Universities; iv) the set-up of a interinstitutional network for innovative service provision, including: a digital platform and the organization of events to allow the matching of job offer and demand and, the integration of organizational models offering improved job training and access facilitation as well as business incubation and support services. To support the access to employment of newly graduated students holding a vocational diploma, the project will: improve the coordination and governance of the players involved within the Ministries through the set-up of a digital platform to monitor the career of vocation graduated students, organize internships for 1.100 students, support business incubation programs within the 6 target Universities, assists 5 start-up of student at the end of their training programs. The lack of a widespread entrepreneurial culture will be tackled through: the organization of a call for project - Imprese SMART - including the assistance to 15 enterprises, the distribution of 900 selfemployment kits to youngsters, the assistance of unprivileged women and persons with disabilities for the startup of income generating activities. A best-practices exchange in Italy will allow to develop synergies between burkinabe entrepreneurs and the italian private sector system. Despite the rapid urbanization, further fostered by internal forced migrations, the majority of the population is expected to keep on living in a rural setting, where the most vulnerable sections of population are women. For these reasons, the project will support 330 smallholders affiliated to a rural cooperative/clusters of farmers, to strengthen their capacities. This will allow them to improve their management, productive and commercial capacities making their activity more rentable also for the workers of the sector. read more close
