Description
The NEPIL project intervenes on urban and peri-urban areas in the municipalities of Niamey and Agadez to support, through professionalizing training paths, employment development and business creation. Technical training (theoretical and practical), support in terms of equipment, equipment and endowments, and technical accompaniment that the partnership can provide, are the tools used to achieve concrete spin-offs in terms of employment outlets in the sectors of renewable energy and appropriate-applied solar technologies, business management, and the agri-food supply chain with the intention of fostering in parallel the promotion of innovation processes for green smart cities and inclusive urban communities. Specifically, the program plans to deliver technical trainings and support both existing entrepreneurial realities (MPEs pre-identified in the proposal development phase with the help of local partners) and new collective and individual startup MPEs that meet market needs to: -strengthen, on the one hand, the presence in the markets of MPEs that, given the current situation of the country context (post-emergency Covid, increase in the cost of raw materials resulting from the conflict in Ukraine and change in the political-institutional set-up resulting in the suspension of state aid guaranteed by historical PTFs and actual contraction of markets to local consumption) are likely to contract with consequent loss of jobs for those employed; - initiate new entrepreneurial realities for job creation based on market needs. In addition, the initiative intends to strengthen and consolidate the culture of entrepreneurial character among young men and women in the primary sector, the backbone of the country's economy, and in the services associated with the enhancement of the common heritage (sustainable energy resources), including through funding to innovative "ideas-projects" (call for proposals) proposed by local MEPs that provide, for the implementation of the projects presented and selected, the expansion of the workforce (in terms of jobs). All this will have broader effects on the local context and on the development of local entrepreneurial dynamics consequent to the professionalizing training activities and related to the sustainable energy and agroforestry sectors. Thus, the proposed initiative is conceived on two parallel and mutually integrated levels. On the one hand, professionalizing training courses will be activated to improve the technical and entrepreneurial skills of the beneficiaries, and on the other hand, investments in sustainable technologies aimed at improving productivity and the use of sustainable energy will be implemented. Ample space is given to training and business development for women to create dynamics of women's empowerment. Local partners, with their technical expertise and local knowledge, will contribute to the achievement of the objectives. It should be noted that among the local partners, Studio ACSA will ensure the conduct of training in the areas of accounting and business management and project administration tasks. ACSSA-Afrique Verte and RESEDA will carry out technical ground activities, CISAO will carry out tasks of counseling and technical supervision of trainings, CIPA will carry out activities of coordination of all initiatives of visibility and dissemination of the initiative, and, finally, TS (as lead partner) will have tasks of general supervision and coordination of all components of the project. Main expected results: increase in people receiving professionalizing trainings; increase in the number of MPEs and innovative Start-Ups; increase in the number of women entrepreneurs.
