Description

This Initiative will take place in Kenya, within Meru and Tharaka-Nithi Counties. Overall objective is to help make the fight against major communicable diseases in the country, especially malaria and tuberculosis, more efficient and effective (OSS 3.3). Specific objective is to increase basic services and improve governance capacity in social and health care in the intervention counties (OSS 3.8), in such a way as to develop more effective and accountable institutions (OSS 16.6). The project strategy is to improve the governance of utilities in the intervention counties by engaging administrative and clinical staff of the social-health facilities provided by the partner counties and Cottolengo in training and capacity-building on social-health governance (RA1). Next, the Initiative will work to strengthen the level of digitization of the health system in the counties of intervention (RA2), thanks to the involvement of partner AfyaRekod, which will provide an IT platform for administrative management of socio-health data. Finally, the provision of basic clinical and socio-health services to combat major communicable diseases (RA3) will be enhanced, so that access to quality health care services and access to safe, effective and quality essential medicines and vaccines will be universally guaranteed (OSS 3.b). Inclusion pathways aimed at people with disabilities will also be implemented, while improving Community Health Promotion activities and carrying out Scientific Research (thanks to the contribution of partners UPO and UNIPV) on social-health issues of strategic interest to the country. read more close
