Description

The intervention aims to contribute to the promotion of leadership and socio-economic inclusion of women and girls, with a focus on their empowerment within a sustainable development perspective that considers gender equality, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the national development strategy Vision 2050, and the National Strategy for Gender Equality and Equity (SNEEG). The methodology to be implemented to achieve the objectives includes: i) promoting the improvement of the institutional, legal, and socio-cultural environment; ii) improving the provision of integrated and holistic services for the prevention and management of gender-based violence (GBV); and iii) strengthening initiatives and productive capacities of women and girls in vulnerable situations to promote their socio-economic autonomy. The project’s implementation strategy is based on the principles of gender equality and equity, quick responses to the population's needs (in terms of protection from gender-based violence and socio-economic inclusion), accountability of institutional and civil society actors, subsidiarity, and effectiveness. The intervention logic is rooted in consolidating the results achieved by the Senegalese Government in promoting gender equality with the support of Italian Cooperation, promoting sectoral synergies and partnerships, with the goal of transferring north-south competencies based on the experiences and best practices implemented by the Italian System in managing anti-violence centers and the helpline for victims of violence. read more close
