Description

The Palestinian agri-food sector remains a key productive/economic sector, with small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) providing a major contribution to household incomes and food and nutrition security. SMEs are the primary supply source for the broader agribusiness sector, accounting for a large share of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) produced in sectors exposed to foreign competition. The project aims to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment, and decent work for all to ensure that the innovative agricultural industry contributes sustainably to the well-being of the Palestinian population. This will be achieved by facilitating access to financing and investments for small producers, helping to strengthen technical and entrepreneurial capacities, and improving working conditions and standards, particularly for women and young people. The project will prioritize businesses led by women and young people. In fact, the maximum contribution and the support limit for investments will be tailored to each category of beneficiaries, and the eligibility criteria will place particular emphasis on the inclusion of women and young people by setting lower contribution thresholds for investors. This approach will allow more women and young people to access funding. The project also includes support for a Central Agricultural Wholesale Market with the necessary governance frameworks, as well as management and infrastructural capacities to enable effective access of Palestinian agri-food products to the market read more close
